The FeRFA Awards Dinner was celebrated in style this year (its 45th) at the famous Belfry Hotel. The awards were presented by comedian Fred MacAulay to a packed audience in the Woodlands Suite at the hotel.
Each year FeRFA members showcase their projects that demonstrate the versatility and wide range of applications for resin flooring as well as their innovation and ingenuity in overcoming the challenges that some projects present. As usual the judges were impressed with the quality and variety of the projects presented, the excellent quality of all the award submissions and the diversity of resin flooring applications, across different sectors from schools to hospitals, prestigious small renovations to traditional industrial flooring, gives clear evidence of the growing markets and new opportunities for resin flooring systems.
In addition to showcasing the range of top quality resin flooring projects undertaken by FeRFA members, the submissions showed members’ continuing commitment to health and safety, training, environmental responsibility and sustainability.
The Winners of the Large Industrial Project Award were IRL Group and Sika for Project Dove Nestle
This challenging project involved over 26,000m2 of resin flooring plus 35,000m2 of resin wall finishes and 26,000m2 of ceiling finishes.

IRL Group were recently invited by Altro to visit their premises and take time out to provide them with our views and opinions.
It is key for Altro to understand what their Customers think of them and to know where they need to improve in the future so that they continue to improve their product and service offerings. Altro have said that our feedback on their product, service, packaging and colour selection will be very useful for them moving forward.
Our two new apprentices started their scheme this month in resin flooring. For these first sessions our 2 apprentices joined together with other FeRFA (Resin Flooring Association) apprentices for the two day modules which included an induction from CITB, and an in-depth health & safety training session delivered by Terry Foxley, the FeRFA trainer.
All schemes lead to an NVQ level 2 diploma and are fully grant funded by CITB for in scope employers.
A number of years ago as a member of FeRFA, we committed to playing our part in halving the amount of construction and packaging waste going to landfill. We pledged that we would promote the adoption and implementation of standards for good practice in reducing waste, re cycling more and increasing the use of recycled and recovered materials.
We estimated how much waste we would produce on our projects and worked with our clients and suppliers to find ways to reduce waste.
We did this by reducing waste on site through proper handling, storage and use of materials; we found more ways to recycle more waste; and recorded the waste we produced, we are pleased to say that our records now show that we have halved the amount of waste produced since 2013 from 223 tonne to 116 tonne of which over 97% is being recycled and will continue our commitment throughout 2015.
IRL Group have recently taken part in a Help for Heroes Charity Event at the Barley Mow Public House in Stapenhill. The event turned out to be a far greater success than ever imagined and on the night the total amount raised was a staggering £3142.00 due in no small way to our generosity and other like minded companies who contributed such high end quality goods to the auction.
Through our efforts we will have helped to aid injured and traumatised service personnel and we take great pride in that fact.
