MULTI-STOREY CAR PARKSTHE SHIRES - HIGH CROSS QUARTER, LEICESTER IRL Group were involved in the development of a major project known as High Cross Quarter Multi-Storey Car Park and B6 Residential site at the New Shires Development, Leicester. IRL Group operating nationally and based in Loughborough, was chosen as a specialist Contractor and were delighted to be a part of such a prestigious development. The scope of the project for IRL was the application of Sika wearing and Waterproofing systems to the car parks 9 levels which included interface at the Bridge Link and service links to the new centre, Residential Block B6, Retail Units, and Installation of mechanical joints.
DAVID COLLETT CAR PARK, LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY When Loughborough University Estates Services required concrete repairs undertaken they selected IRL GROUP to carry out the project. The work comprised repair of the cast in-situ structure which formed the car park below David Collett Hall blocks A B and C, together with associated decoration and protective coatings to steelwork. Non-destructive testing was carried out prior to the application of the full Sika MonoTop repair system. Following curing of the repairs two coats of SikaGard Elastocolor W anti-carbonation coating were applied to the deck underside, sloping soffits, fascia, columns and external stairs. The steel beams and posts received two coats of Sika Icosit 6630 protective coating. All steel column protectors and crash barriers were removed to IRL Group’s Loughborough base for cleaning and painting with black and yellow diagonal hazard markings again using Sika Icosit 6630 and were refitted on completion of this. The entire project was complete within the agreed two week programme to coincide with the University holiday period.
